Mafia: Definitive Edition features 20 Dime Detective Pulp magazines scattered throughout the story. Collecting all of them unlocks the “Avid Reader” trophy. This guide covers every magazine location in chronological order.

Important Collection Notes

No collectibles in Mafia can be permanently missed. The Collection menu tracks your progress—select any collectible type to view them chronologically.

All collectibles save instantly upon pickup. Deaths don’t reset progress, and everything carries over to subsequent playthroughs.

Nearby collectibles appear as colored icons on your minimap. All magazines are found during main story missions, making them accessible on any playthrough.

Magazine Locations by Chapter

Magazine #14 – Chapter 3: A Trip to the Country

Located in the room where you collect Molotov cocktails. Check the table.

Magazine #12 – Chapter 4: Ordinary Routine

Found outside the motel at your third collection stop during the money run. Look for wooden planks in the southeastern corner.

Magazine #9 – Chapter 5: Fair Play

After cornering the Racetrack guard in the garage, search the stands opposite the garage. Stepping outside mission bounds triggers a 10-second timer, but that’s sufficient time. You can also collect it post-race.

Magazine #6 – Chapter 7: Better Get Used to It

Inside Biff’s shop in Chinatown. Located in the back room you pass through when exiting.

Magazine #13 – Chapter 8: The Saint and the Sinner

Hotel Corleone, first floor, southeastern corner. A man talks on the phone in this room—subdue him quietly from behind first.

Magazine #19 – Chapter 8: The Saint and the Sinner

At the very end of the Hotel Corleone rooftop section after fighting through police forces. Easy to overlook.

Saint Michael’s Church, on the altar in the southeastern corner.

Magazine #11 – Chapter 9: A Trip to the Country

Inside the large northeastern barn. Access requires investigating the truck and surviving the subsequent firefight first.

Magazine #20 – Chapter 10: Omerta

Right at chapter start, on a crate near where you speak with Vincenzo (the first objective marker).

Magazine #8 – Chapter 11: A Great Deal!

Inside the large mansion, first floor, northeastern room. Check the book cart.

Magazine #4 – Chapter 12: Bon Appetit!

In the guardhouse by the garage exit. Easily missed—collect before speaking with Sam in his vehicle.

Magazine #1 – Chapter 14: Happy Birthday!

At Saint Peter’s Port where a crowd gathers upon arrival. Find the table left of the crowd, slightly left of Sam’s position.

Magazine #7 – Chapter 14: Happy Birthday!

Aboard the ship on the upper deck, accessible only during the “Find vantage point” objective.

Magazine #10 – Chapter 15: You Lucky Bastard!

In the restaurant where the chapter’s first shootout occurs.

Magazine #17 – Chapter 16: Creme de la Creme

At the airport inside the large hangar containing the main mission marker.

Magazine #5 – Chapter 17: Election Campaign

Inside the Prison. Enter the cell block, climb to the third floor, and pull the corner lever to open cells. Check the western cells for this collectible.

Upper prison floor in the library. Collect BEFORE passing through the Watchtower door.

Magazine #16 – Chapter 18: Just for Relaxation

After sneaking through the Federal Customs Holding yard, you’ll enter an enemy-patrolled building. Upper floor office contains this magazine.
